Oguri Kozuke-no-suke Tadamasa

Oguri Kōzukenosuke Tadamasa was a shogunate finance commissioner who championed the plan to build the Yokosuka Ironworks. After sailing to the US aboard the Powhatan in 1860, he secured French cooperation and began construction in 1865 — but he was executed by the new Meiji government in 1868.
