祝島 (Iwaishima)
Also known as: 祝島・Iwaishima
An island in the Suo-nada sea about 16 km south-west of Kaminoseki Port, with a circumference of about 12 km. It is read Iwaishima, without voicing, in both prefectural and Japan Post usage. It appears in the Man'yoshu and is known for the Kagura shinji held once every four years.
