Sun Yat-sen lotusSonbun ren

Also known as: 孫文蓮・孫文の蓮

A lotus grown from one of four seeds that Sun Yat-sen, the “father of the Chinese revolution”, gave to a supporter in Chofu in 1918. The lotus botanist Ohga Ichiro took on the germination, one seed sprouted in 1962, and the plant, named the Sun Yat-sen lotus, was divided into Chofu Garden in 1994.
