Oshio HeihachiroOshio Heihachiro

Also known as: 大塩平八郎・大塩中斎

A former officer of the Osaka magistrate's office and a scholar of Yomeigaku, with the art name Chusai. A believer in Yomeigaku's unity of knowledge and action, he raised troops in Osaka in 1837 during the Tenpo famine in the Oshio Rebellion.
