Gango-ji Temple

Gango-ji traces back to Hoko-ji (Asuka-dera) in Asuka, which was relocated to Heijo-kyo in 718. The roof of its Gokuraku-bo hall still bears roof tiles from the Asuka period, among the oldest surviving tiles in Japan.
