Kusanagi no Tsurugikusanagi-no-tsurugi

Also known as: 草薙剣・天叢雲剣・Sword of the Gathering Clouds・Ame-no-Murakumo no Tsurugi

The sacred sword enshrined at Atsuta Jingu as one of Japan's three Imperial Treasures. According to mythology, the blade was discovered inside an eight-headed serpent and later renamed Kusanagi ('grass cutter') by the hero Yamato Takeru after he used it to escape a grass fire.
