Genji Monogatari Emakigenji-emaki

Also known as: 源氏物語絵巻・Tale of Genji picture scrolls・Genji scrolls

The oldest surviving illustrated scrolls depicting scenes from The Tale of Genji, the celebrated Heian-period novel. Designated a National Treasure, the scrolls' primary collection is housed at the Tokugawa Art Museum in Nagoya, making them a cornerstone of the city's cultural heritage.
