Also known as: Tsukeage

A Kagoshima specialty of deep-fried fish paste, more commonly called tsukeage within the prefecture itself. It is said to have spread in the era of Shimazu Nariakira, inspired by either Kishu-style kamaboko or Okinawan fried fish cakes, though its exact origin remains debated among several competing theories.
