Kagoshima KurobutaKagoshima Kurobuta

Also known as: Kurobuta

A branded pork from Berkshire-lineage pigs raised in Kagoshima Prefecture. A strain introduced via the Ryukyus about 400 years ago was crossed with Berkshire pigs imported from Britain in the Meiji era, and the pigs are now fattened partly on sweet-potato feed, giving the meat its fine texture and clean bite.
