Lake Toya and Mount UsuToya-ko, Usu-zan
Also known as: 洞爺湖・有珠山・Showa-Shinzan
An area recognized as a UNESCO Global Geopark for its landscape of coexistence with an active volcano. Showa-Shinzan, a lava dome that rose from a wheat field during the 1943-45 eruptions of Mount Usu, stands close by, its growth recorded by postmaster Mimatsu Masao.
