Also known as: 天草大王
A large native chicken breed raised in Amakusa during the Meiji and Taisho eras. It went extinct in the early Showa period but was revived over roughly a decade starting in 1992 through restoration research by Kumamoto Prefecture, earning the name "the phantom local chicken."
