Tsuchiura Castle
Also known as: Kijo・Turtle Castle
A flatland castle protected by wide double moats; no tenshu (main keep) was ever built there throughout the Edo period. Its silhouette, resembling a turtle shell floating on water, gave it the nickname 'Kijo' (Turtle Castle).
