Suzume Odori (sparrow dance)Suzume Odori

Also known as: すずめ踊り

A Sendai folk performing art in which dancers hold fans and move with a hopping motion. It is said to have begun when stonemasons danced improvisationally at the banquet celebrating the construction of Sendai Castle, and it is performed at the Sendai Aoba Festival.
