Also known as: 近松門左衛門

A writer of puppet theatre and kabuki active in Kamigata. He is known for domestic plays such as "The Love Suicides at Sonezaki," about the courtesan Ohatsu and the clerk Tokubei, and also wrote many history plays drawn from legend.
