Nagasaki Chinatown
Nagasaki Chinatown grew out of Shinchi-gura, Edo-period landfill built for unloading and storing cargo. Once the seclusion policy eased, Chinese residents who had lived in the walled Tojin Yashiki quarter moved into the area and built it up into a Chinatown.
