Kofukuji Temple

Kofukuji Temple was built in 1620 and is regarded as the first Chinese temple established in Japan. In 1654 the Chinese monk Ingen Ryuki arrived and took over as its head priest, an event credited with founding the Obaku school of Zen in Japan.
