Also known as: 北野天満宮

A shrine enshrining Sugawara no Michizane, revered as the deity of learning, founded by tradition in 947. It is reckoned one of the head shrines of the Tenmangu and Tenjin shrines nationwide and a birthplace of Tenjin worship.
