Heian-jingu (Heian Shrine)Heian-jingu

Also known as: Heian Shrine・平安神宮

A shrine founded in 1895 to mark 1,100 years since the capital moved to Heian-kyo; it hosts the Jidai Matsuri on October 22. Its vermilion great torii on Jingu-michi stands about 24 meters tall and is a Registered Tangible Cultural Property.
