Kaga YuzenKaga Yuzen
A dyeing technique from the Kaga region built around a five-color palette of crimson, indigo, ochre, grass green, and ancient purple, designated a National Traditional Craft in 1975. It favors realistic flower-and-plant motifs finished with a shading technique called soto-bokashi, darker at the outer edge and paler toward the center, plus a mushikui technique that paints small insect-eaten marks onto leaves.
