Kaga MizuhikiKaga Mizuhiki

A Kanazawa-born decorative cord craft that ties red-and-white or gold-and-silver paper cords into three-dimensional shapes such as cranes, turtles, and pine-bamboo-plum motifs. Around 1915, the craftsman Tsuda Sokichi devised both a way of folding decorative paper wrappers called origata and a way of tying cords into raised, sculptural forms, transforming what had been flat cord-tying into three-dimensional work.
