Goshoura-jimaGoshoura-jima

Also known as: 御所浦島・御所浦

An island in the eastern Amakusa archipelago, south of Kami-shima, corresponding to the former town of Goshoura. Cretaceous-to-Paleogene strata are widely exposed here, making it known as a "fossil island" for dinosaur and shellfish fossils.
